Evelyn Elaine Brown Allen, age 72, of Lumberton, NC, passed away in the Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health Southeastern on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Elaine was born on July 29, 1953, in Aiken, SC, to the late Cephas Brown and the late Lillie Mae Weatherford Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Levy Brown Lassiter; her brother, Franklin Cephas Brown; and her brother-in-law, Michael Lassiter.

Elaine devoted her life to caring for her family and home. Her occupations outside the home over the years included teaching adults to read as part of the VISTA program, working as a seamstress at Quality Alterations, and working as a secretary at Booker T. Washington Primary School in Clarkton. She was a member of Singletary Baptist Church.

Elaine had a terrific sense of humor, a keen intellect, and total dedication to those she loved. She enjoyed reading, writing, word searches, singing at church, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 55 years, Curtis Hudson Allen, Jr.; her son, Curtis Hudson ("Trey") Allen III and his wife, Teryn Melissa Smith Allen; her son, Clinton Oakley Allen and his wife, Cresa Smith; her five grandchildren by Trey and Teryn, Thomas Hudson Allen, Isham Weatherford Allen, Michael Lynn Oakley Allen, Mary Evelyn Allen, and John Cephas Allen; and her sister-in-law Lorraine Brown.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025,at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5 th Street, Lumberton, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Singletary Baptist Church, 4061 Singletary Church Rd, Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Rd, Lumberton, NC.
