Ervin Cain, 83, of Lumberton died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born on December 29, 1927 to the late Arthur and Edna Ruth Musselwhite Cain. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer of the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edna Ruth Cain and two former wives, Isabell Rozier Cain and Lucille Kinlaw Cain.

Mr. Cain is survived his wife, Ruth Wilkins Cain of the home; sons, James Ervin Cain and Wayne Cain and wife Sharon all of Lumberton; step-sons, Pete Wilkins of Stedman, NC and David Wilkins of Norfolk, VA; daughters, Linda Cain Goodermote and Lillian Cain of Lumberton; step-daughters, Dorothy West, Freida Stephens and Carol Hicks, Elvia Kinlaw all of Lumberton and Debbie Lowe of GA; sister, Lois Wade of Cedar Creek, NC; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Zion??s Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
