Ertel Max Taylor, age 77, of Lumberton, NC died on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on June 23, 1939 to the late Martin and Mildred Phillips Taylor.  He previously worked in auto parts sales.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Wrenda Jean Britt; a granddaughter, Kandida Chriscoe; and a son-in-law, Robert E. Chriscoe.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Caulder Taylor of the home; daughters, Sonya Marie Smith (Scott) of Spring Hope and Brenda Jean Chriscoe of Lumberton; brothers, Grady Taylor, Don Taylor, Danny Taylor, and Keith Taylor all of Lumberton; sisters, Pat Pate of Laurinburg, Sheila Britt, Freda Grimsley, and Sarah Mayers all of Lumberton; and grandchildren, Marshall Smith (Kara) of Bailey, Robert Chriscoe of Supply, and Ron Chriscoe (Michelle Rhodes) of Lumberton.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.

The funeral service will be on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 3:30 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
