Ernest Parnell, 71, of 71 Kildeere Lane, Lumberton, NC died May 3, 2009 a Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was born March 2, 1938 to Ernest Herbert Parnell and Nettie Rae Britt. He was Supervisor of Sales at Triangle Ice. He is a veteran of the United States Navy.

Mr. Parnell was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nettie Britt Parnell; two sons, Dwayne Herbert Parnell and Ernest Ray Parnell; one daughter, Kellie Dove and one sister, Maxine Winberley.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Locklear Parnell of the home; one son, Ernest Mitchell Bergh of Niceville, FL; five daughters, Alison Parnell of the home, Tonya Deese and husband Shawn of Maxton, NC, Rose Parnell and Deborah Parnell of Lumberton, NC, Elaine Bergh of Bridgewater, VA; three brothers, Tommy Parnell and Horace Parnell of Lumberton, NC, Mickey Parnell of Fairmont, NC; three sisters, Josephine Patterson and Marjorie Rice of Lumberton, NC, Myrtle Smith of Ridgeway, VA; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeffrey Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Great Marsh Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Pauls, NC.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
