Obituary

Eric Clint Hunt, age 49, of Fairmont, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Eric was born December 11, 1976 in Robeson County to the late Clint Locklear and the late Flora Ann Hunt.

Eric graduated from Fairmont High School in 1998. Upon graduation he started his journey at RCC in the adult continuing education class. Eric loved school and being with his classmates. He was always the life of the party, if there were music and a dance floor that's where you would find Eric. He also loved the Carolina Panthers. On Sundays he would be glued to the television, yelling if his panthers were losing. His room filled with Panther's gear and jerseys. He was also extremely proud of being a Fairmont Golden Tornado, he was so excited to attend the Grand Reunion and see all his Tornado alumni.

Eric's was the light of our lives, and he was surrounded by so much Love. Eric was extremely blessed with a host of cousins and he was loved by each one of them. Most of his cousins were girls and they often argued over who was his favorite, but he would never admit to any certain one. Eric shared a special relationship and has a unique name for them all. He never forgot a birthday; he would always be your first call to sing Happy Birthday.

Eric's presence will surely be missed in our family and community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Josephine Hunt; his paternal grandparents, Welton "Toogan" Locklear and Rosie Locklear; his uncles, Jimmy Hunt, Shudy Hunt, Franklin "Pee Wee" Hunt, Welton Locklear, Jr. and Curtis Locklear; and his aunts, Betty Lois Dial and Wanda Locklear.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his parents whom loved and cared for him for 30 years, Linda H. Jacobs of the home and the late Anthony Jacobs of Lumberton; three sisters, Courtney Jacobs of Maxton, Whitney Jacobs (Tony) of Fairmont, and April Hunt (Allen Daryl) of Pembroke; four nieces, Maliah Jacobs, Meya Leonard, Chloye Hunt and Miriyha Leonard; special cousins, Crystal Chandler (Jason), Lindsey Oxendine and Sean Locklear (Monica); aunts, Linnie Jacobs, Jo Ann Chavis, Mary Stephens (Earl), Betty Carol Hunt (Timmy), and Mary Hunt; uncles, Ricky Locklear, H.G. Locklear (Rosa), Marshall Hunt (Melissa), and Larry Oxendine; his best friend, Natoria Cummings, and a host of other relatives of the Hunt and Locklear families.

A special thanks to Healthkeepezs, his nurses Carey, Destiny, and Erika. His past and present teachers; Mrs. Janice Thompson, Gloria Locklear, Towanda Gaddy, and Stephanie Locklear. His FHS class of 98 and his RCC classmates.
