Mrs. Emma Elnetia McLain Carter, age 84, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. She was born on May 10, 1929 in Hamlet, NC to the late Gary Alexander and the late Ethel McLain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tsgt. Luther C. Carter, Jr.; two daughters, Terry Carter and Mary Carter and three brothers, Charlie McLain, Jim McLain and Alex McLain. She is survived by two sons, Gary Carter and Tony Carter; two daughters, Beverly Sampson and husband, Anslem, and Deborah Carter; three grandchildren, Casandra Frank and husband, Michael, Chad Suggs and Barry E. Smith; three great-grandchildren, Donovon Sluder, Swan Frank and Mary Claire Frank. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. David G. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Baptist Church in Lumberton.
