Mr. Bailey was born October 26, 1927 in Dillon County. He loved his family dearly and, most of all, he loved his walk with God and his church. He was a member of the Dillon FWB Pentecostal Church for 66 years. He has served as deacon, superintendent, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer over the years.

He served in the Army during WWII. In his lifetime of working, he was a farmer, a textile worker, and he retired after 22 years as a driver for LP Gas Co. (which was once Fairmont Gas Co.) He also worked with the Town of Fairmont, driving the street sweeper for quite a few years.

He will be missed dearly but we are thankful for all the great memories he has left for his family to hold close in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Bailey and Thelma Bailey; his beloved wife, Leverta D. Bailey; two daughters, Nancy B. Hayes and Sandra Diane Rogers; two brothers, Winston Bailey and Maxton Bailey; one grandson, Wayne Rogers; and a great-grandchild, Carey Dawn Rogers.

He is survived by his four children: Eldon Bailey (Darlene), Edward Bailey (Loria), Nyoka B. Byrd, and Martha B. Thomas (Timmy), all of Fairmont; two brothers: Arthur Bailey (Anne) of Fairmont and Alton Bailey of Dillon, SC; three sisters: Eula Purthebaugh of Shelbyville, IN, Elease Webster of Fairmont, and Lila Dean Bufalini of Naugatuck, CT; and 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
