Obituary

Mr. Elton Britt, of Robeson County, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at Harbor View Nursing Facility, with his children by his side. He was 87 years old.

Born and raised in Robeson County, Elton lived a life grounded in hard work, faith, and deep devotion to his family. He dedicated many years of service to Cape Fear Construction before retiring. Known for his strong will, steady presence, and unmatched work ethic, he was a man who believed in providing for those he loved.

Elton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Virginia Britt; his daughter, Melanie Willoughby; his parents, Annie and Calvin Britt; and his brother, Wilbur Britt; adopted brother, Sam Everette.

He is survived by his loving children: Pam Green (Jimmy), Daril Britt, Teddy Britt (Ginger), and Ronnie Britt (Rena).

He leaves behind a legacy through his cherished grandchildren: Kim Jones (Tim), Tracey Jones (Tadd), Jimmi-Lyn Lewis (Justin), Amanda Britt, Travis Britt, Justin Britt (Mandy), Alex Britt, Caitlan Hooker (Adam), Brent Montano (Brandi), Eric Willoughby (Katie), Will Willoughby, and Larry Dale Cox; along with 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special caregiver, Karol Lowery, whose care and compassion meant so much to him and his family.

Elton found joy in the simple things in life—farming, hunting, and wearing his signature suspenders. He loved watching westerns and being surrounded by his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, each and every one of them. Though he didn't always say "I love you" in words, he showed it every day through his actions, his presence, and his unwavering love.

Elton will be remembered as a strong, stubborn, and deeply loving man whose legacy lives on in the family he cherished so dearly.

And as he would always say—

"Be careful."
