Eloise
Walters
May 30, 1927 — Jan 26, 2023
Wilmington
Eloise Walters, of Wilmington, NC, known affectionately by many as "Weeze", received her calling on Thursday, January 26, 2023, and went home to be with her Heavenly Father. She lived 95 years and used all that time making sure every single person she grew to know felt loved whether they were family or friends, near or far, kids or adults, for better or worse, good times and bad.
Born in Robeson County, NC on May 30, 1927, she was the first of her siblings to graduate from the twelfth grade and earn her high school diploma. She found a career in banking working for Waccamaw Bank, United Carolina Bank, and SECU for many years and did not retire until she was 80 years old. Since her love for family was so strong, she made the decision to move from Lumberton, NC to Wilmington, NC in 1988 to remain close to her loved ones.
Eloise raised two great women whom she adored, helped raise three grandchildren, and truly loved her two great-grandchildren, Britton and Avery. She experienced and shared many things during her life than most people can imagine. Her sense of humor was always sharp, and she truly enjoyed the random silliness that her grandchildren brought her. Her faith was steadfast and strong, which radiated out into the world around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Lillie Mae Walters; her siblings: Joanna Musselwhite, Johnny Walters, Irene Walters, Idell Walters, Richard Walters, Lula Mae Walters, Betty Joyce Walters, and Jasper Walters; and a son-in-law, Jim McArthur.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Floyd and husband Don of Wilmington, NC and Jackie McArthur of Nebo, NC; her sister, Drucella West of Lumberton, NC; her grandson, Chris Floyd and partner Johnnie Moore of Smithfield, NC; her granddaughters, Megan Ingram and husband Chris of Hampstead, NC and Cassie Daly and husband Glenn of Asheville, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Britton and Avery Ingram.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating in kind to: Arbor Landing Assisted Living of Hampstead, NC or Liberty Home Care & Hospice Services of Wilmington, NC.
