Lumberton
Elizabeth English Warwick passed away peacefully at age 93 in Lumberton, NC on Thursday, January 18, 2024, after a brief illness.
Elizabeth was born in Laurinburg, NC on December 13, 1930 to the late Luther T. "Red" & Lena W. English. The oldest of 3 siblings, she was raised in Maxton, NC where she graduated from Maxton High School in 1949. She attended Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton where she received a secretarial degree in 1951.
In 1953, she married William "Bill" Clarence Warwick, Jr. and together they raised 2 children. In addition to being a mother and homemaker for many years, she worked as an executive secretary, a bank teller, and an administrative assistant for CP&L, as well as helping her husband, Bill, in his business ventures.
Elizabeth was a kind and compassionate woman who always put others before herself. Throughout her life, she carried herself with drive and determined focus that never wavered. She always endeavored to maintain an independent life for herself and still drove herself at the age of 93.
She cherished birds – especially cardinals – and loved watching the wildlife around her home. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, researching family history, and collecting figurines. She loved and was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Clarence Warwick, Jr.
She is survived by her son, William Warwick III (Katherine Hopkins); her daughter, Laura Poole (Don); her grandchildren: Rachel, Becca, Gabe, and Josh; her great-granddaughter, Hazel; and her sister, Betty Jean, and many nieces and nephews.
