Elizabeth Bridgeman Taylor, age 83, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on April 10, 1932 to the late Bert and Lucille Burney Downing. She worked in textiles. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest C. Bridgeman; a daughter, Barbara Ann Bridgeman; two brothers, C.E. Downing and James Downing; and a grandson, Tommy Stone. Mrs. Taylor is survived by a son, James Bridgeman (Deffie) of Lumberton; a daughter, Susie Bridgeman Sykes of Lumberton; three grandchildren, Tammy Sykes, Clayton Sykes, and Ricky Britt; and one great-grandchild, Nick Stone. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. Bruce Brumfield officiating.
