Mr. Eldon Vance Ellis, age 75, of Lumberton, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on December 24, 1935 to the late Robert ??Lee? Ellis and the late Gladys Phipps Ellis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Stella Pittman.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Gray Parker Ellis of the home; a daughter, Annette Ellis Lane and husband, Carl Ray Lane, both of Lumberton, NC; four grandchildren, Brandon Rowland and wife, Brittany, Shawn Lane, Amber Walton and husband, Austin, and Lesley Lane; one great-granddaughter, Lainey Pittman; five sisters, Jean Pope of Pinehill, AL, Gray Singletary and husband, Billy of Harrisonville, MO, Janice Nealy of Newport News, VA, Karon Reaves and husband, Donald of Gastonia, NC, and Marguerite Ellis of Monroe, NC; one brother, Bob Ellis of Ganston, AL; two brother-in-laws, Roger Parker and wife, Denver of Lumberton, NC and Ronald Parker and wife, Ricky of Holden Beach, NC; a sister-in-law, Shirley Britt and husband, Alton of Lumberton, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 3:00PM at Long Branch Baptist Church in Lumberton with Rev. Jeff Broadwell officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 2:00-3:00PM.
