Elbert Lee Pait, 89, of Lumberton, NC died on Monday, January, 16, 2012 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Bladen County on January 20, 1922 to John Powell and Mary Belle Pait. He previously worked as a self-employed painter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Henry Pait; two daughters, Gloria Jean Parker and Dorinda Louise Pait Fields; a son-in-law, Strange Fields; and a brother, Levi Carroll.

Mr. Pait is survived by three grandsons, Duane Fields and wife Sonya fo Evergreen, Keith Fields and fiancé Alisa Bryant of Lumberton and O??Neil Parker and wife Beth of Lumberton; a granddaughter, Betty Herring and husband Dennis of Lumberton; a son-in-law, Rencil O??Neil Parker of Lumberton; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
