Edmund Reece Kirkland, age 79, of Lumberton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Duke University Medical Center. He was born in Fredrick, OK on March 11, 1931 to John Edmund Kirkland and Eva Leola Chance Kirkland. Ed??s many accomplishments included being a helicopter pilot for the US Army and serving the local community as a helicopter crop duster. He was the owner of Ed??s Accounting Services in Lumberton for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Kirkland of the home; five sons, Johnny Paul Kirkland of Shoreham, NY, Wade Lydell Kirkland of Lumberton, Kenneth Edmund Kirkland of Niceville, FL, Ronald Irish Ronson of Lumberton and Darren Edmond Kirkland of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Melessia Wray Gant of Marion, NC; a brother, Galen Ray Kirkland in Colorado Springs, CO and a sister, Carol Louise Kennedy of Las Vegas, NV; twenty-eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Chapel at 2:00PM with Rev. Brian Schmidt and Rev. Bill Evans officiating.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.
