Edith Taylor Melvin, 92, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. She was born August 5, 1930, in Robeson County, NC to the late Curley and Leola Taylor. She was a longtime member of Raft Swamp Baptist Church and served as church hostess for more than 30 years. She loved cooking for her family, friends, and for church events.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Lee Melvin, and her son, Gary Lee Melvin.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy Melvin (Angie) and Gene Melvin, both of Lumberton, NC: her brother, Ted Taylor (Doris) of Lumberton, NC; three grandchildren: Chris Melvin (Brandie) of Holly Springs, NC, Brian Melvin (Becky) of Winterville, NC, and Cory Melvin of New Bern, NC; three great-grandchildren: Lauren, Noa, and Dawson; and a special "daughter", Annette Walwork.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Raft Swamp Baptist Church, 2766 NC Hwy 72 in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Mark Hall and Rev. Richard McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
