Edith Russell Taylor Floyd, 88, of Lumberton, after a brief illness, died peacefully at Southeastern Regional Medical Center on January 9, 2012. Mrs. Floyd, a native of Maxton, graduated from Maxton High School and attended Mary Washington College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lumberton and the Glenflora Missionary Circle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben G. Floyd, Jr.; her parents, B.F. and Helen Taylor; a brother Ben F. Taylor, Jr.; and a sister, Helen Taylor Kelly.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by her sons, Ben G. Floyd III and wife Rita of Winston-Salem, Forrest R. Floyd of Sunset Beach, and Stephen C. Floyd and wife Peggy of Pinehurst. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alison Floyd Davis of Jamestown, Rusty Floyd and wife Julie of Wilmington, Jay Floyd of Charlotte, Beth Floyd of Raleigh, Taylor Floyd of Savannah, GA, and Chad Floyd of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandsons, Benjamin and William Davis of Jamestown; three nieces and four nephews.

A graveside service conducted by Dr. David S. Elks will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of the donor??s choosing.
