Mr. Earl Norris Hoffman, Jr., age 68, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Norfolk, NE on December 21, 1952 to the late Earl Norris Hoffman, Sr. and the late Norma Schaffer Hoffman.

Earl served four years in the U.S. Navy and two years in the National Guard at California. He graduated from Southwestern College in Nebraska with a degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections. He served an instructor at Robeson Community College in BLET and in-service training since 1990 and was an officer with the Lumberton Police Department since September 24, 1979, most recently holding the position of Senior Lieutenant.

Earl served from 2006-2008 in Iraq with the State Department, setting up police stations and served from 2009-2010 with the Afghanistan International Police. Earl loved his family and loved serving the city of Lumberton, as well as his country.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl John Hoffman III, and a brother, Steven Eugene Hoffman.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Hoffman of the home; two sons, Bradley Gene Brumbles of Lumberton, NC and Ian Paul Hoffman; a daughter, Cindy Gail Freeman (Hubert) of Kernersville, NC; a brother, Timothy Allen Hoffman (Susan) of Nebraska; a sister, Julie K. Wingett of Lincoln, NE; and five grandchildren and his two fur babies, Gigi and PJ.

Due to COVID restrictions, the family will not be receiving friends at their home.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5 ^th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 7:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Herbert Lowry, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11:00AM at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
