Earl Dowless of Lumberton went to be with Jesus on March 12, 2010 at Southeastern Hospice House. He was born on February 1, 1918.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Dowless; his parents, Sallie Moore and Acie Dowless; three brothers, John Dowless, Theodore Dowless and Leo Dowless; two sisters, Ada Rogers and Aleta Seals.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Dowless and wife, Betty Jo of Lumberton, NC, Bob Dowless and wife, Kathy of Concord, NC; one grandaughter, Ann-Charlotte Dowless Hicks and her husband, Stacy of Davidson, NC; two great-granddaughters, Tyler and Sydney. He is also survived by three sisters, Clarice Graham of Lumberton, NC, Betty Lovette of Lumberton, NC and Annie Neal Stritken of Hamlet, NC; and by a special niece, Nancy Jones and husband, LT; and Diane & Cecil Lee of FL.

Mr. Dowless was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church of Lumberton. His hobbies were gardening and tinkering in his workshop.

The family will receive friends at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. on Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM.

There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 15, 2010 at Gardens of Faith Cemetery with the Reverend Dennis Harrell officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southeastern Hospice House.
