Dovie Jean Davis Carter, 70, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born April 22, 1947 in Robeson County to the late Johnny William and Emma Taylor Davis. She will be remembered for her many years as a local beautician.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tony Stone; one brother, Eugene Davis; and one sister, Marie Parker.

She is survived by her husband, Ertle Max Carter of the home; two daughters: LaDonna Jean Haywood and husband Chris and Wanda Gail Bitt and husband Johnny, all of Lumberton; two brothers: Clarence Davis and Johnny Davis, both of Lumberton; and four grandchildren: William Britt, Morgan Britt, Zachary Haywood, and Sidney Nichole Haywood.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017, at 7:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church. Following the service, the family will receive friends briefly at the church.

Burial will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Clewis-Davis Family Cemetery.
