George Douglas McEwen, Jr. of Lumberton died peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on May 16, 1947, a son of the late George Douglas McEwen and Monis McEwen. Mr. McEwen retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 28 years of service.

He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Crofton; his son, George Douglas McEwen III (Heather) of Lumberton; his daughter Holly Mabe (Shawn) of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Alexis and Bryson McEwen and Bailey Mabe; his sister, Doris Gray Slack; along with special nieces and nephews and a special friend and longtime fishing buddy, J.B. Lanier.

Along with his parents, Mr. McEwen was also proceeded in death by his sister, Diane Wilkins, and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Wilkins and Jim Slack.

A private funeral will be at a later date for immediate family.
