Dosey Chavis, 81, of Lumberton, NC, passed peacefully at his residence on September 29, 2021. He was a retired postmaster at Pembroke Post Office in Pembroke. He was also an avid golfer at Pinecrest Country Club. He loved Christ and also loved his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Chavis and Flossie Chavis; a sister, Frances Butler Chavis; and two brothers, Wilson Chavis and William "Can" Chavis.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Chavis of the home; two daughters, Holli Pittman (Jessie) of Lumberton, NC and Kaye Brewer (Gerald) of Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Clayton Freeman (Tammy) of Lumberton, NC; a brother, Grady Chavis (Cynthia) of Pembroke, NC; and eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton, NC with Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating.
