Mrs. Dorothy Council Smith, age 103, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. She was born in St. Pauls, NC on December 20, 1920 to the late Bernice Clinton Council and the late Emma Walters Council.

Mrs. Dorothy was a beloved resident at Brightwater Assisted Living in Myrtle Beach, SC where she had many friends.  She loved playing BINGO and enjoyed participating in games at Base Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodie Smith; five brothers, Archie Council, Kenneth Council, Alden Council, James Council, and Rodney Council; and four sisters, Jean Edwards, Peggy Hall, Barbara Council, and Emma Dale Thorndyke.

Mrs. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Woodie Clinton Smith (Teresa) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Timothy Kevin Smith (Mary) of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Sarah Ellen Drake (Jered), Robert Clinton Smith (Kassandra), Jenny Brown (Bo), and Kevin Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Charlotte Smith, Abriela Smith, Anderson Drake, Lyla Rose Brown, Philip Brown, and Kolton Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 2:00PM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton with Pastor David Hawes officiating.  A time of visitation will follow at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
