Dorothy Britt Evans, age 71, of Lumberton, NC died on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County, NC on November 8, 1940 to the late William D. Britt and the late Vidalia Price Britt. She previously worked in food service and former owner of Dot??s Sandwich Shop.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Carl Evans; a son, Tony I. Evans; two brothers, Clifton Britt and Sammy Britt; and a sister, Brenda Collins.


Mrs. Evans is survived by a son, Garry Evans and wife Vickie of Lumberton; a daughter, Kimberly Evans Ray and husband Danny of St. Pauls; two brothers, Brantley Britt and Alton W. Britt both of Lumberton; two sisters, Mary Ellen Lamb of Shallotte and Pat Sessions of Lumberton; four grandchildren, Autumn Evans, Dereck Evans, Nolan Ray and Katie Ray and one great-grandchild, Paityn Evans.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church with Rev. LeRoy Burke and Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.

Visitation will be Monday, March 19, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton.
