Dorothy Mae Allen Townsend, age 82, of Lumberton, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Southeastern Health in Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on December 20, 1930 to the late Howard Allen and the late Nettie Smith Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gurtie Lee Sides and her brothers, Alvin, Hubert and Robert Allen. She is survived by her sons, William Howard Townsend and wife, Shirley E. and Allen Bobby Townsend and wife, Terry, all of Lumberton; her daughter, Pat Townsend Willoughby and husband, Paul of Durham; her sister, Vera Kinlaw and husband, Jerome of Lumberton; five grandchildren, Chad Townsend and wife, Kristy, Ben Townsend, Rex Willoughby and wife, Kelli, and Brad and Kyle Townsend; four great-grandchildren, Karys Townsend, Ty and Leah Willoughby and Auden Townsend; all of her church family at Singletary Baptist Church and her faithful companion, Bo Bo. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00AM at Singletary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Singletary Baptist Church Cemetery.
