Doris Powers Taylor, age 89, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Glen Flora Nursing Home. Doris was an only child and was born in Robeson County on January 11,1936 to James Rowland Powers and Emma Christine Blake Powers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Arnold Lee Taylor, son; Michael Taylor.

Doris was a homemaker for most of her adult life while raising a daughter and five sons. Later she worked at the Knife and Fork Restaurant in Charlotte before moving back to Lumberton. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach. She liked telling others about her church.

She is survived by her sons; Robert A. Barnes, Tony Taylor and wife, Lisa, Jay Taylor and wife, Denise, Jeff Barnes and wife, Nickie, daughter-in-law; Sandra Taylor, eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC 28358. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 30, 2025 at The Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4901 Independence Dr., Lumberton, NC, 28358. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery, 400, Hollywood Dr., Lumberton, NC 28358.
