Doris Ann Mercer Stephens, age 81, of Southport, NC died on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her residence.  She was born in Columbus County, NC on November 6, 1935 to the late Wade and Emily McCellan Mercer.  She previously worked as a supervisor for Fairmont Knitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hal Arthur Stephens; a grandchild, Jarvis McCray Stephens; and brothers, George Mercer and Richard Mercer.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by her sons, Edgar Hal Stephens (Penny) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Kenneth Dale Stephens (Mary) of Hendersonville; daughters, Wanda Stephens Bridgeman (Anthony) of Southport and Rhonda Stephens Warren (Eddie) of Lumberton; a sister Jane Atkinson of Fairmont; fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.  A time of visitation will follow the graveside service at the cemetery.
