Obituary

Miss Doris Kaye Paul, age 21, left this world for her Heavenly home and to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She was born in Robeson County on December 22, 1993. Although cut short, Doris' life was a testimony to what one willing soul can do for others. As a teenager she dedicated her summers to the youth at Camp Rockfish by serving as a counselor and head life guard. She was a lifetime member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. Doris earned recognition for her years in the Girl Scouts by receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, the organization's highest honor. Her journey toward becoming a dentist began early as well and she was an honor student throughout her years in school. She was an avid reader and loved spending her days in the outdoors, enjoying God's bounty of animals and nature. Doris also found time to work part-time at Shoe Show in Lumberton. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at Lumberton High School, Class of 2012, and was most recently on the chancellor's list at UNC Pembroke where she was majoring in Biology. Even in death Doris sought to give to others. Her final, and maybe her greatest, act of kindness was the donation of her organs to six others so that they might see weddings and sunsets and graduations in the days ahead. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Joyce Kay Paul and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Doris Connell. She leaves to cherish her memories with her loving parents, Jeffrey W. Paul and Julia Connell Paul, of the home; her brother, Charles Paul, of the home; five aunts, four uncles, twelve cousins, and many, many friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 6:00PM at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Little and Rev. Jimmie Tatum officiating. The family will receive friends and family following the service at Chestnut Street UMC Asbury Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in hopes of sending more children to Camp Rockfish. These memorials may be made to: Doris Kaye Paul Foundation, c/o Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1464, Lumberton, NC 28359.
