Mrs. Doris Ellen Britt, age 75, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Southeastern Health of Lumberton. She was born in Robeson County on February 1, 1940 to the late Harley Benton and the late Lena Todd Benton. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Harold Britt, two sisters, Louise Callahan and Edna Byrd, and two brothers, Horace Benton and Lewis Edward Benton. She is survived by her husband, James W. Britt of the home, two sons: James Ray Britt and Knox W. "K.W." Britt, both of Lumberton; one daughter, Mary Ellen McLean of Lumberton; two brothers: Knox Benton of Lumberton and Bobby Benton of Whiteville; two sisters: Helen Jackson and Dorothy Morgan, both of Lumberton; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 3:00 PM at East Lumberton Church of God with Rev. L.F. Hatchell officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place prior to the service, from 1:00-3:00 PM at East Lumberton Church of God.
