Doralyn Simmons Stone, age 88, of Gastonia, NC passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 18, 2014. She was born in Charleston, SC on March 17, 1926 to the late Mayo and Ora Lee Long Simmons. She was a homemaker. She was a former member of Midway Baptist Church where she served as WMU Director, Church Treasurer, Sunday School Secretary, President of VBS, Sunday School Teacher, and substitute Choir Director. She was also very active in her community. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Stone and a son, Danny Morris Stone. Mrs. Stone is survived by a son, Edward Ronald "Ronnie" Stone of the home; a brother, Jimmy L. Simmons of Lumberton; a sister, Carolyn Simmons Phillips and husband, Tommy of Lumberton; special cousins, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 12:00-1:30 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM following the visitation on Wednesday in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Stone to a charity of your choice.
