Donald Lee Cockrell, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alpheus and Nellie Cockrell. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margie, a daughter, Karen Adams and husband, Steve, of Ft. Mill, SC, a son Ray Cockrell and wife, Kimberly, of Wilmington, five grandchildren, Meredith Adams, Lauren Adams, Bryan Adams, Joshua Cockrell, and Mason Cockrell, and a sister, Mavis Pope, of Kinston, NC. A true servant of the Lord, Don was active at First Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director, Sunday morning greeter, and many committees. Especially meaningful to him was his participation in an evangelism class. Don worked in the dairy business for 51 years in sales and merchandising. The majority of his career was with Coble Dairy. He also spent years with Cumberland Dairy, Flavo-Rich Dairy, and retired from Pet Dairy in 2007.
