Don Leo Ward, age 89, of Lumberton, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018. He was born August 29, 1928 in Robeson County to the late Luther Ward and the late Bessie Long Ward. He retired from the US Army Reserve after 40 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Ernestine Ward; a daughter, Joan Hornbuckle; and a brother, Clayton Ward.

He is survived by a son, Don Ward, Jr. (Jessica) of Holden Beach; a daughter, Lynn Rice (Bill) of Lumberton; a son-in-law, Freddie Hornbuckle; four grandchildren: Gini Dalton, Megan Hammonds, Jamie Losee, and Chelsi Ward; and two great-grandchildren: Ada and James Dalton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 11:00 AM at New Hollywood Cemetery.
