Dollie Chavis Locklear, age 62, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Robeson County on January 16, 1952 to the late Rev. Luther and Helen Locklear. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Chavis; a daughter, Monica Gonzales; two brothers, Bobby and Otis Locklear; three sisters, Ida L. Carter, LaRuth Locklear, and Elizabeth Locklear. She leaves to cherish her memories two grandsons, Dominique Gonzalaes and Amadeus Gonzales, and Cruz Locklear of the home; a brother, Avery Locklear of Lumberton; one sister, Wanda Locklear Gilchrist of Lumberton; a special friend, Donnie Hunt of Lumberton; and a host of relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
