In Loving Memory of Diane McNeil Thompson
December 15, 1971 – August 11, 2025

With heavy hearts but unwavering faith, the family of Diane McNeil Thompson announces her transition from this temporary earthly domain to spend eternity in the presence of our heavenly Father. Diane departed this life on August 11, 2025, at the age of 53.

A woman of grace, elegance, and enduring faith, Diane was known for her warm smile, outgoing spirit, strong will, and deep love for the Lord. She lived each day with strength and perseverance. Her presence lit every room she entered, not only with her sense of style, but with her warmth, caring spirit, and unique sense of humor.

Born in Rowland, NC on December 15, 1971, Diane was the daughter of Hiddleston and Alene McNeil, and was raised in a loving, faith-filled home. She carried those values throughout her life, remaining a devoted follower of Christ and a member of New Covenant Assembly Church in Dillon, SC.

During her early years, she attended South Robeson High School and proudly graduated with the class of 1990. Soon after, she enrolled at Robeson Community College, where she would meet the love of her life, Johnny Thompson. The two were united in marriage on July 31, 1999, beginning a lifelong journey of love and unwavering support. She worked at Peterkin & Associates as a counselor and at Robeson Healthcare as a secretary.

Throughout her life, she faced numerous health challenges, yet she approached each one with remarkable strength, courage, and steadfast faith in God. With Johnny faithfully by her side, she overcame many obstacles, never allowing hardship to dim her light. Her resilience was a true reflection of her spirit, strong and determined. She lived with purpose, pressing forward with grace no matter the storm.

Diane leaves behind a legacy of love. She was preceded in death by her parents Hiddleston and Alenne McNeil, two sisters/ brother in law, Edna (Larry) Horne, Mary (George) Moore, and brother-in-law Jerry McMillian. She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years Johnny Thompson (of the home), two sisters Dorothy McMillian of Rowland, NC and Betty (Elisha) Alford of St, Pauls, NC, her niece, Tiffany Alford (St. Pauls, NC), step daughter JaCoya Thompson-McBryde (Tremayne) of Simpsonville, SC, mother-in-law/caregiver Angelon Thompson (Fairmont, NC), one sister-in law Denita Foy-McEachern (Fairmont, NC), five brothers-in-laws; Jeffrey Thompson and Micheal Thompson (Fairmont, NC), Corey (Andrea) Thompson (Virginia Beach, VA), Donte'(Shahnee) Thompson (Hope Mills, NC), Dennis Jones (Fairmont, NC), two grandchildren JaCarley and Jaley McBryde of Simpsonville, SC, a special friend/caregiver Crystal Martin (Lumberton, NC), a special cousin/caregiver Ivy Thompson (Fairmont, NC), cousin/caregiver Zena Manning (Greensboro, NC), niece/caregiver Mya Thompson (Hope Mills, NC), nephew/caregiver MyKelen Thompson (Fairmont, NC), special nephew Dayvin Thompson (Hope Mills, NC), as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, friends, and her church community.

We would also like to acknowledge her other caregivers Janice, Chelsea, Ava, and Ana.

Though we mourn her physical absence, we rejoice in knowing she is now adorned in heavenly robes, resting in the arms of her Savior.
