Delaine Byrd Hardin, 84, of Fairmont, NC, died Sunday, October 3, 2021, at her home in Fairmont. Delaine was born May 8, 1937, in Robeson County, NC.

She worked many years at Southeastern General Hospital, then with Lumberton Surgical Associates from 1976 until 2000. She was a very active member of Proctorville Baptist Church until her recent decline in health, including being a member of the Ladies' Softball Team where she was the pitcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Luther Byrd and Thelma Tolar Byrd; her husband, P.R. Hardin; one son, Jerry Hardin; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Williams; and two brothers, James Carroll Byrd and Thomas Harold Byrd.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie L. Hardin of the home; and two sisters-in-law: Faye Hardin of Elizabethtown, NC and Rose Herring of Lumberton, NC; along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and a special friend, Fran Leggett, whom she loved like a daughter.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday October 6, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Proctorville Baptist Church. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Byrd Family Cemetery.
