Deborah (Debbie) Lewis Cranfill, 69, of East Bend, NC, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was born in Burlington, NC, to the late Nolan and Margaret Lewis.

Debbie will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She was a kind and selfless woman. Her laughter was contagious, and her smiles never failed to brighten a room. She always had a song in her heart, and in her later years, she was not afraid to share it with those who had the pleasure of being in her company.

Mrs. Cranfill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1977. During her time at UNC, she was president of Kappa Epsilon, a co-ed professional fraternity for pharmacy students. She was also initiated into Phi Lambda Sigma, the national Pharmacy Leadership Society, in 1976.

Deborah retired as a pharmacist from the Veteran's Administration in 2016. In retirement, she liked to cook and had just started an herb and vegetable garden shortly before she went to be with the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nolan and Margaret Lewis, both of Mebane, NC; her two brothers, Michael Lewis and Jerry Lewis; and her parents-in-law, Rebecca (Becky) and M. Smoot Cranfill, both of Lumberton, NC.

She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, James Smoot Cranfill, of the home; a daughter, Catherine Cranfill, of the home; and her extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11 am at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. David Hodge officiating.
