David Williford of Ocean Isle Beach passed away peacefully at sunrise in his home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born October 3rd, 1957 to the late David Hosea Brown and Marilyn Ruth Williford.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sue Pittman Williford; his son, David Lee Williford (Mary); and his two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Williford (Sydney) and Hannah Michelle Williford. He was a proud grandpa to his granddaughter, Laiken Elizabeth Wilcox, and grandsons, Coy Lee Williford and Joshua Lee Williford.

David was born in Lumberton and lived in many places throughout his life, including New Orleans, where he discovered his love for Cajun-style food, and Kodiak Island, Alaska where he learned he had a God-given talent for music, especially playing the guitar.

David spent his life working iron and playing music, which took him all over the country introducing him to countless friends and experiences. In April of last year, he gave his life to Christ, and the stories of his many adventures became testimonies of God's strength, grace and faithfulness. He loved sharing with others what God had done in his life and the strength God had blessed him with through every season.

Daddy was loved for his big smile, his ever-ready helping hand, and his devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his kindness and humor will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC, with the service following at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Senior Scholarship Fund in memory of David Williford. Donations received will be used to provide scholarships for graduating seniors of the Lumberton High School FFA Chapter.
