David Davenport Rich, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairmont, NC, on December 8, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas L. Rich and Edith M. Rich, and by two brothers, Lenwood Rich and Craig Rich.

David is survived by his devoted wife of more than 50 years, Barbara, and their four children—Christoph, Marcus, Melissa, and Veronica—along with their families. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother, Clifton Neil and his family, He is further survived by a loving extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

David honorably served 24 years in the United States Army, dedicating much of his life to the service of his country. After retiring from the military, he continued his commitment to helping others through his work at Robeson County DSS and later as a school social worker at St. Paul's High School and Lumberton High School. His steady presence, integrity, and compassion touched countless lives throughout the community.

Visitation will be held at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc.1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, on Wednesday, December 10, from 6:00–8:00 PM.

A private burial for the family will take place on Thursday morning.

A Memorial Mass for all who wish to join David's family in prayer and remembrance will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish in Lumberton, NC on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 12:00 noon.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep devotion to his family and faith, and a lifetime lived in service to others. May he rest in eternal peace.
