Darrel Lynn Hunt, age 71, of Lumberton, NC departed this life peacefully on January 4, 2026 at GlenFlora Assisted Living in Lumberton.

Darrel was born on October 15, 1954 to the late David Hunt and the late Beulah M. Hammonds.

Darrel was a professional painter for many years. He loved music, dancing, drawing, joking and Nascar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Carol Hunt; his grandson, Arry-la McKellan; two sisters, Beadie Jane Deal and Liza Mae Hunt; a brother, Earl Hammonds, Jr.

Darrel is survived by his three daughters, Gina Carol Hunt, Angie Hunt (James), Loretta Carol Hunt 'Milk Milk" all of Fairmont, two sisters, Letha Mae Chavis (James) and Cathie Rowell, both of Fairmont; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont. The funeral will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM.

Burial will follow in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmont.
