Ms. Darlene Shook, age 80, of Elizabethtown, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Woodhaven Nursing Facility in Lumberton, NC. She was born in Robeson County, NC on October 31, 1943 to the late Barney Smith and the late Hazel Ivey. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. But, most importantly, she will be remembered for the dedicated mother and Nana she was.

She is survived by her life partner, Hubert C. Kinlaw of Elizabethtown, NC; her daughters, Roni Aderhold (Richard) of Crawfordville, FL and Sherry Younce (David) of Lumberton, NC; her sons, Andy Shook (Wendy) of Lumberton, NC and Don Shook (Ann) of Crawfordville, FL; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Barney "Sammy" Smith of Lumberton, NC; and her sisters, Flora Ann Scott Todd of Lumberton, NC, Kathy Meares (Elvin) of Bladenboro, NC, and Priscilla Mizell (Larry) of Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Connor officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
