DAPHNE MARTIN BYRNE

August 11, 1932-2017

Daphne Martin Byrne, 84, of North Myrtle Beach, SC passed away on May 30, 2017. Daphne was born in Nichols S.C. on August 11, 1932 the daughter of A.T. Martin and Lena Bryant Martin.

Daphne was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Fairmont, N.C. where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. Daphne was a graduate of Fairmont High School and Wake Forest University. She served as a majorette at Wake Forest for four years. She also served on the Student Legislature, a sorority member and a member of the Beta, Beta, Beta Club.

After graduation from Wake Forest in 1954 she taught history and science in Lumberton High School. She was an avid gardener and floral arranger. She was a student of Japanese flower arrangement and won a number of awards in this field. Her home was always decorated with fresh floral arrangements.

Surviving is her husband of 61 years Jimmy Byrne. She is also survived by her three daughters, Paula Drafts and husband Alex of Columbia, SC, Ann Taylor of Little River, SC and Laura Roebuck and husband Kenneth of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by three grandson James Drafts, Austin Taylor and Matthew Taylor and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held in the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Fairmont, NC on Saturday June 3rd at 12:00p.m. The family welcomes you to join them in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Refreshments will be served.
