Mr. Curtis Chavis, age 94, of Fairmont died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel with Bishops James W. Hunt and James E. Hunt officiating.

Burial will be in Chavis Family Cemetery, Marion Stage Rd. Fairmont.

Visitation will be Saturday Nov. 24, 2012 from 7-9 pm at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.

Mr. Chavis was born April 8, 1918 in Marlboro County.

Preceded in death by parents, Jerry and Lizzie Chavis; wife, Jessie Bell Freeman Chavis; a daughter, Johnnie Bell Sanders; and several siblings.

Survived by five sons, Roy Lee Chavis, Derrell Chavis, and Curtis Chavis, Jr. all of Lumberton, J.C. Chavis of Fairmont and Larry Chavis of Chadburn; seven daughters, Betty Oxendine of Parkton, , Sallie Jacobs and Margie Griffin, both of Fairmont, Jenny Oxendine , Gertrude Jacobs and Hattie Hunt , all of Lumberton and Joann Hunt of St. Pauls; 46 grandchildren, 109 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren
