Coach Franklin Jernigan, age 77, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021, at his home.

He was born February 18, 1944, in Horry County, SC. He was a member of Fairmont First Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon.

Franklin was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Dewey Jernigan; his mother, Cecil Bell Jernigan; along with his brother, Wayne Jernigan; and a granddaughter, Erin Matthews.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jernigan of the home; four children, Clay Jernigan and wife Jane, of Lumberton, Temperance Perez and husband Luis, of Deltona, Fl, Cameron Jernigan and wife Melissa, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Hunter Carver. He also has six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

The visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, prior to the service at Floyd Memorial Cemetery. A graveside service will follow at 11 am. A memorial service will also be held at 5 pm Wednesday July 28, 2021, at Fairmont High School Football Field in Fairmont.
