Mr. Clinton "Mutt" Chavis, age 84, of Rowland (formerly of Charlotte NC), passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021.

Clinton was born May 6, 1937, in Robeson County and lived in the Rowland/Fairmont areas much of his early life.  While pursuing a job in the "big city," he moved to Charlotte in his late 20s, and remained there until 2011. He spent his final years near his family, "back home" in Robeson County.

For over thirty (30) years, Mr. Chavis worked to help others in need as a valued employee of First Restoration Services.  His reliability and work ethic were two of the traits that his employer valued most. He was a true "jack-of- all-trades," transporting equipment to sites located up and down the East Coast and assisting in any way needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sergeant Lacy F. Hunt and Janie Chavis; and one sister, Doris Faircloth.

He is survived by his daughter, Twilla Chavis Allen (Brad) of Lumberton; one special granddaughter Abigail Bernice Allen; two sisters, Betty Jo Hunt of Fairmont; and Vera Chavis of Fairmont; special cousin and friend James "Red" Hunt of Rowland; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 1:00PM-2:30PM at Floyd Funeral services in Fairmont.

A graveside service will follow the visitation Tuesday August 10, 2021 at 3:00PM at New Bethel Holiness Methodist Church Cemetery.
