Cletus Nance Hickman, who was better known to most as "Nanny", went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. She was in her home surrounded by family and friends.

Cletus was born in Lumberton, NC, on September 14, 1930 to the late Ruby and Arthur Nance. She was a wonderful mother to the late Ricky Hickman and to Susan Walker, both of Lumberton, NC. She raised her children with love and devotion alongside her husband, John Hickman, who preceded her in death. They were happily married for 60 years. Together they shared a devotion to church, a love of fishing, and an unwavering love of family.

As an office manager at Gene's Electric from 1961-1988, Cletus was known for her dedication, honesty, and service throughout the organization. Her hobbies included baking her world-famous chocolate layer cakes, fishing competitions within her family, growing beautiful flowers in her yard, and embarking on family trips. She was most proud of watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the years.

Along with her parents, Cletus was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Parnell and Anetha Blackwell.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Walker of Lumberton, NC; her grandchildren: Brian Walker and wife Crystal (Tylan and Brycen) of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Kevin Walker and wife Lee Ann (Zoe, Emily, and Ian) of Lumberton, NC, Matthew Walker and wife Samantha (Saylor) of Laurinburg, NC, Adam Hickman of Winston Salem, NC, and Holly Hickman of Wilmington, NC.

She is also survived by her brothers, Bill Nance and wife Bea and Murphy Nance, all of Lumberton, NC, and many other special nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, February 28, 2021, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at Hyde Park Baptist Church, 301 N. Roberts Avenue in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Southeastern Hospice House or to Hyde Park Baptist Church's Building Fund in Cletus Hickman's name.
