Clarence Vernon Leggett, Jr., age 81, of Lumberton passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at his home. He was born in Robeson County on March 16, 1931 to the late Clarence Vernon Leggett, Sr. and Essie Britt Leggett. He served in the U.S. Army and previously worked as a self-employed barber.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Tony Leggett.

Mr. Leggett is survived by his wife, Hattie McMillian Leggett; his son, Kenny Leggett and his wife, Marianne, of Fairmont; a brother, Mack Leggett of Fairmont; three sisters, Katherine Pace of Jacksonville, Rosie Pridgen of Lumberton, and Doris Arnette of Lake View, SC; and three grandchildren, Lee, Justin, and Layne.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 3:00PM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton. Burial and visitation will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery, Lumberton.
