Cynthia Miller Rooks, 65, died Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care in Whiteville, NC. She was born January 15, 1961, the daughter of Marie Britt Fisher and Thomas Miller, who preceded her in death.

Cindy retired from the Public Schools of Robeson County after 20+ years. She was a special education teacher at Carroll Middle School and Littlefield Middle School and had a great passion for teaching her very special students.

Cindy was a U.S. Air Force veteran where she proudly served her country. She graduated from Lumberton Senior High School in 1979 and also had degrees from the University of North Carolina- Pembroke and Lesley University. She and her family attended Antioch Baptist Church of Lumberton.

Cindy married the love of her life, Arthur Rooks, on April 17, 1993. They had a very special renewal of their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary in Las Vegas, NV, in 2018.

She is survived by two sons Shawn Rooks of Biloxi, MS, and Zachary Rooks of Lumberton, NC. Art and Cindy have two grandsons, Colin and Gage Rooks. She also had a special daughter, Shaina Fountain, the mother of her grandsons.

There will be a celebration of life at Antioch Baptist Church in the near future.
