Christine
Gaddy
Aug 27, 1935 — Jun 29, 2018
Christine Walters Gaddy, age 82, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 29, 2018, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. She was born August 27, 1935 in Robeson County to the late Lemon T. Walters and the late Louise Wilkins Walters. She retired after years of working as a bookkeeper for Pepsi-Cola Co.
Christine was a woman of love and determination, driven by her love of God, her compassion for those who lived without it, the ability to find the good in us all, without any want of accolade. Her nickname "Tiny" applied to everything save the size of her heart. From her hands always came a push toward healing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tommy Walters, Jr.; a daughter, Marcia English; and a step-daughter, Vicki Gaddy.
She is survived by her husband Robert W. Gaddy III of the home; a daughter, Terri Collins and husband Kenny of Lumberton; a step-son, Robert W. Gaddy IV and wife Carol of Lumberton; ten grandchildren: Christopher Fowler, Savanna Fowler, Tyler English, Ken Collins, Maranda Page, Bobby Gaddy, Vann West, Kendall Gaddy, Ashley Tomlinson, and Matt Tomlinson; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rembert Walters of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Mt. Elim Baptist Church in Orrum.
Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. James Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
