Christina Maria Meares, age 50, of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was born on June 18, 1973, in Robeson County, NC to the late Ertle Ray & the late JoAnn Dowless Meares.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Matthew Meares.

Christina was excited about her intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. She had portrayed it throughout her life by sharing with anyone she came across. She never met a stranger and was loved by many. Always putting her children before herself.

In addition to her love for Christ and her children, nursing was her passion. Especially NICU and geriatrics. Christina received the Academic Excellence Award for graduating top of her nursing class in 2009 at RCC. She was cherished by her patients over the last 14 years.

Christina would want us to remember her by her bubbly personality and all the fond memories. She wants us to spread her love for Christ to others and we will continue to honor her in that way.

She is survived by her son, Benjamin Suggs of the home; her daughter, Malarie Suggs (Stephen) and her grandson, Bradley Campbell of Cary, NC; her siblings, Thomas Meares (Cathy) of Lumberton, NC, William Meares (Teresa) of Cameron, NC, Kathy Shaw (Mike and Candice) of Snead's Ferry, NC, and John Meares (Tonya) of Lumberton, NC.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. William Meares officiating. Burial will follow at Kinlaw Family Cemetery.
