Air Force veteran Charles Michael "Mike" Lassiter, age 73, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2019, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on November 28, 1945 to the late Lonnie and Marie Antoinette Lassiter.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and oldest sister, Janice.

After serving four years in the Air Force, Mike played baseball while he attended Chowan University. After graduating from UNCP, Mike dedicated his life to helping others through his career as a high-school science teacher (Hoke County and Lumberton) and the various charities he was associated with. Mike is now reunited with his honey, Joan, whom he met in 1985. Mike loved spending time on the water and spent many days at Lake Gaston. Mike loved taking road trips in his truck to see the beautiful country he served and defended.

Mike is adored by his three children: Melody Britt (Keith), Roy Bacot (Alana), and Hank Bacot (Brandi), and his seven grandchildren: Madison, Josh, Baylee, Jackson, Eve, Devin, and Hezekiah.

Mike will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters: Dale (Carol), Wayne (Norma), and Audrey; his loving nieces and nephews, as well as his fishing buddy, Junior.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 1:00pm at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5 ^th Street in Lumberton. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton.
