Charles Ray Mayes, Sr. age 80, of Lumberton passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

He was born June 14, 1940 in Columbus County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stringfield Mayes and Lilly Bullard Mayes; a brother, Jack Mayes; sisters, Kathleen Parker, Corine Bullock, Georgia Lee Barfield and Margaret Parker.

He leaves behind his wife, Geraldine English Mayes of the home; a son, Charles (Chuck) Ray Mayes, Jr. (Mary Fields) of Lumberton; a daughter, Annette Rising (Stephen Anthony) of Lumberton; his grandchildren, Kelli Sluder (Mike), Lindsey Jones (James), Samatha Wells (Rick), Brittany Monte (Chad), and Averi Mayes; seven great grandchildren, Madison, Ryker, JoJo, Charlie, Luke, Liam, and Boone.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
